Is there parking available at the van hire depot?

No, unfortunately we are no longer able to offer on site parking for customers.

Points on my Licence. Can I still hire a Van?

Yes, points are no problem.

Non UK Licence. What happens about insurance?

If it an internationally recognised licence then we can get you covered.

Hours of return of vehicle?

We would prefer drop-offs when the office is open, but you are able to leave vehicles outside and use our drop box facility for keys. Vehicles left outside the premises are still the responsibility of the hirer until a member of staff attends the vehicle at 08:00.

What are the restrictions when applying for hiring a van from Abbey Van Hire?

Hirers must be at least 21 years old and must have held their licence for at least 12 months.

Is the usual UK Driving Licence adequate for up to a 7.5 tonne vehicle?

7.5T vehicles require a Class C category on a driving licence. To have this you must have "acquired rights" or you must have taken a separate test.

What documents do you need to see regarding proof of address etc?

We can accept most official documents as long they are within 3 months old. We will also accept documents on your smart phone.

European travel. Is this permitted with your vehicles?

Unfortunately, none of our vehicles are covered to leave the UK.

What proof of identification do I need?

One of the following: Bank Statement - Current Council Tax Bill - Utility Bill
